Places and Place Values in a 6-Digit Numbers

There are six places in a 6 -Digit Number

Lakhs(L)        TTh           Th         H      T      O
×100,000  ×10,000  ×1000  ×100 ×10   ×1

      4                9              5           7      8      6
      ×                ×              ×           ×      ×     ×
(100000)+(10000)+(1000)+(100)+10 + 1

Here in 6-digit no. there are six places -
Ones ,
Tens ,
Hundreds ,
Thousands ,
Ten Thousands and
Lakhs

Value of digit at Ones place is 1 times.

Value of digit at Tens Place is 10 times.

Value of digit at  Hundreds Place is 100 times.

Value of digit at  Thousands Place is 1000 times.

Value of digit at  Ten Thousands Place is 10,000 times.

Value of digit at  Lakhs Place is 1,00,000 times.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Ones Place

Digit at Ones place  is multiplied by 1 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at ones place is 6 ,
so we multiply 6 by 1 to get place value of 6
i.e. 6×1 = 6.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Tens Place

Digit at Tens place  is multiplied by 10 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Tens place is 8 ,
so we multiply 8 by 10 to get place value of 8
i.e. 8×10 = 80.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Hundreds Place

Digit at Hundreds place  is multiplied by 100 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Hundreds place is 7 ,
so we multiply 7  by 100 to get place value of 7
i.e. 7×100 = 700.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Thousands Place

Digit at Thousands place  is multiplied by 1000 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Thousands place is 5 ,
so we multiply 5  by 1000 to get place value of 5
i.e. 5×1000 = 5000.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Ten Thousands Place

Digit at Ten Thousands place  is multiplied by 10000 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Ten Thousands place is 9 ,
so we multiply 9  by 10000 to get place value of 9
i.e. 9×10000 = 90,000.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Lakhs Place

Digit at Lakhs place  is multiplied by 1,00,000 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Lakhs place is 4 ,
so we multiply 4  by 100000 to get place value of 4
i.e. 4×100000 = 4,00,000.

Face Value of a Number

Face Value of a Number is number itself.

Face value does not change according to place.

It remains same at every place.

Face value of 3 in 36 is 3.

Face value of 4 in 4768 is 4.

Q. B. Write face values -

1) Face Value of 2 in 2675480 is .........

9) Face Value of 3 in 2036905 is .........

10) Face Value of 5 in 2566390 is .........

Periods

Periods helps us to read a no. easily.

In Indian System first period is placed after ones, tens and Hundreds after that period is placed after every 2 digits.

Example
TC   C ,  TL   L ,  TTh   Th ,  H   T   O

 2     3   , 5     6  ,     7      0   ,  3   4   9

 (2    1   ,  2    1  ,   2    1   ,  3   2    1 )
Count digits and put periods <-
