Place Value of a 3-Digit No.

Places and Place Values for 2-digit no.

Tens   Ones
 ×10       ×1
   8           6

=  (8× 10)  +  ( 6× 1)

Here in 2-digit no. there are two places -  Ones and Tens.

Value of digit at Ones place is 1 times.

Value of digit at Tens Place is 10 times.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Ones Place

Digit at Ones place  is multiplied by 1 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at ones place is 6 ,
so we multiply 6 by 1 to get place value of 6

i.e. 6×1 = 6.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Tens Place

Digit at Tens place  is multiplied by 10 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Tens place is 8 ,
so we multiply 8 by 10 to get place value of 8

i.e. 8×10 = 80.

Q. A. Find the place value of each digit in given numbers.

a)  25                    b) 69

Places and Place Values for 3-digit no.

Hundreds       Tens         Ones
     × 100           ×10             ×1
        7                  8                6

 =  (7 ×100) +(8× 10)  +  ( 6× 1)

Here in 3-digit no. there are three places -  Ones , Tens and Hundreds .

Value of digit at Ones place is 1 times.

Value of digit at Tens Place is 10 times.

Value of digit at  Hundreds Place is 100 times.

Here in this case digit at Tens place is 8 ,
so we multiply 8 by 10 to get place value of 8

i.e. 8×10 = 80.

How to find Place Value of Digit at Hundreds Place

Digit at Hundreds place  is multiplied by 100 to get its place Value .

Here in this case digit at Hundreds place is 7 ,
so we multiply 7  by 100 to get place value of 7

i.e. 7×100 = 700.

Q. B. Find the place value of each digit in given numbers.
