Even Numbers
Numbers which are exactly divisible by 2 , are called Even Numbers.
Even numbers have 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 at their ONE'S place.
Example - 18 , 40 , 54 , 72 , 56 etc.
Odd Numbers
Numbers which are not exactly divisible by 2 , are called Odd Numbers.
Odd numbers have 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 at their ONE'S place.
Example - 19 , 27 , 33 , 45 , 71 etc.
How to check a numbers for Even or Odd
Example 1.
Check whether 57 is even or odd.
Step 1 :
One's digit in 57 is 7.
Step 2 :
We know that one's digit in odd number should be 1,3,5,7 or 9.
Step 3 :
Here one's digit is 7. So we can say that 57 is an odd number.
Check whether 56 is even or odd.
Step 1 :
One's digit in 56 is 6.
One's digit in 56 is 6.
Step 2 :
We know that one's digit in even number should be 0,2,4,6 or 8.
We know that one's digit in even number should be 0,2,4,6 or 8.
Step 3 :
Here one's digit is 6.
Here one's digit is 6.
So we can say that 56 is an even number.
